Kathmandu: At least five major highways across Nepal were blocked on Saturday due to floods and landslides triggered by ongoing monsoon rains, according to the Nepal Police Headquarters.

The affected routes include the Koshi Highway, Pasanglhamu Highway, Bheri Corridor, Araniko Highway, and Chalghat section of Tripurasundari Municipality-1 in Dolpa.

Police spokesperson Binod Ghimire said that landslides were the main cause of the disruptions. However, four of the blocked roads have now been partially opened, allowing one-way traffic in most areas.

Meanwhile, traffic has resumed on other previously blocked routes including the Shahid Highway (connecting Rolpa and Gulmi), the Kaligandaki Corridor, and the Jayaprithi Highway (Khodpe-Bajhang route).

Authorities continue to monitor the situation and are working with local teams to clear debris and restore full traffic operations as the monsoon continues.
